Apollo LED + Wireless & Smart Grid
Apollo Smart Lights SL LED Series are not just an intelligent lighting solution Apollo also had the capability to provide street wide wireless access for several different applications. The Apollo Smart Lights design has the ability to have an all-in-one housing that incorporates a wireless MESH radio to allow remote access and monitoring of infrastructure but also allows for secure access for the following applications.
Wireless Control and Dimming
The SL Controller (SLC) is an intelligent wireless controller that uses state of the art self-forming and self-healing mesh networking and is economical enough to be used on individual lamps for remote operations. Each SL Controller provides dimming of LED lamps using a 0-10V / PWM dimming output based on programmable dimming schedules and inputs from motion or light sensors. SLC is powered using a DC input provided by the LED power supply. The SLC solution can also be integrated into legacy lighting products.
Smart Parking Meters
Carrying change is something of past and most meters will accept some type of payment. The wireless integrated Apollo SL Series can communicate on frequencies 900MHz, 2.4GHz and 5GHz and has the ability to create a MESH network over a city block or a city wide area.
Charging Stations will soon be as visible as a parking meter and every charging station will need to communicate to authorize Credit Cards and to report usage to the power provider. Apollo SL Lights with integrated MESH will allow Charging Stations to communicate easily.
With the integrated Automated Meter Reading/Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMR/AMI) solution, cities can now move away from manual drive-by solutions to digital meters that MESH together and link wirelessly to a central network – saving time and cost while improving customer service and ability to accurately monitor and control valuable resources. Apollo Smart Lights has a variety of proprietary Concentrator and Gateway solutions as well as Vendor Neutral solutions where Apollo will work with existing hardware vendors and infrastructures to custom design a solution.
The Apollo Picocell is a vendor natural solution and when used in a cellular network will extend coverage to indoor and outdoor areas where signals do not reach well, or to add network capacity in areas with very dense phone usage. Picocells provide coverage and capacity in areas difficult or expensive to reach using the more traditional Macrocell approach. The average coverage area for the Picocell is about 200m which is ideal for densely populated areas like, train stations, stadiums or around conference halls.
